Giant Adirondack chair

Inspired by similar art installations I'd seen in Montréal, I decided to build a giant Adirondack chair of my own as my art installation for the 2006 edition of Burning Man (a major international art festival).  Hundreds of people used the chair to enjoy the sunset, to watch life go by, or take photos in, with the biggest group photo being about a dozen people on it at once.

After spending the week at Burning Man 2006, its next home was overlooking a bay at a friend's cottage on the Outer Banks of North Carolina.  After spending a week or so occupying the tiny front garden of my home in Montréal, I was able to hire a crane to hoist it to its final setting with a view of Mont-Royal on the roof of my building.
Burning Man 2006: I assemble the entire chair for the first time, after spending several weekends building its component parts in my garage in Arizona.
The giant chair makes a great landmark at the front of our little camp.  Behind it is the hexayurt dome lounge, which I built with a friend in my garage over the preceding weeks.
Obviously, the chair makes a great spot for group shots, here of our camp's members.  The dome lounge is also very apparent in this photos.
The big chair spent a year or so overlooking the bay in North Carolina.  Clearly a good environment for such an installation.
When I first brought the chair to my home in Montréal, it sat in this tiny garden for a week or so to amuse the neighbours and passers-by.  Those guys work for the crane company which I hired to get it to the roof.
How to get a giant chair to the roof: with a crane!
